Pawlet Select Board meeting Tuesday, April 16, 7 PM at the Town Hall

Granville, NY, transfer station update: Due to the sale of the transfer stations in Washington County, anyone purchasing stickers should buy only what stickers are needed until April 20, 2013, which is the last day that the County operates the stations. After that Earth Waste, and Metals will be running the stations. If you have stickers left after the 20th, the company will accept them for a limited time, but they cannot be on the bags. The stickers must be handed to the attendant. The new owners will be accepting cash and credit cards, to begin with, and at a later date, will incorporate checks. Refunds for unused stickers can be obtained at the stations on Saturdays only through June 1 or at the County Treasurer’s office.

Pancake Breakfast, Sunday, April 21, from 7:30 AM to noon, West Pawlet fire house: The breakfast benefits the West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department. Menu includes regular and chocolate chip, blueberry and cranberry pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home fries and homemade Belgium Waffles with warm peaches and/or strawberries. Haystack Hustler Seniors Lunch April 23: We will meet at noon at the Mettawee School for lunch followed by a presentation by the students. Suggested price for this lunch is $3.50. The 50/50 Raffle will be held and we will collect food for the Pawlet Food Pantry. All seniors are invited to participate in our activities. We are interested in program suggestions. Hazardous waste collection on Saturday, April 27, 8 – 9:30 AM at the Mettawee Community School parking lot: The Solid Waste Alliance Communities (SWAC) is offering a free collection of household hazardous waste to all residents of Pawlet, Benson, Chittenden, Fair Haven, Middletown Springs, Rutland Town, Shrewsbury, Sudbury, Tinmouth, and West Haven. Proof of residency is required. Electronics, latex paint, car batteries, and tires will not be accepted. Note: Permanent computer collection programs are available in the towns of Benson, Chittenden, Fair Haven, Middletown Springs, Shrewsbury, Sudbury, and Tinmouth.
