2014 Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department Auction, Thursday, July 24: The famous auction returns! This community tradition involves bargains, great food, live auction entertainment, and a great chance to have some fun with your neighbors– in short, there’s something for everyone! We begin accepting donations on Wednesday, July 2, so check those garages and attics. Your no-longer-needed items can become a major source of support for your fire department. Pawlet Library’s 47th Annual Book Sale, Mettawee School, Saturday, July 26, 9 AM to 3PM, and Sunday, July 27, 10 AM to 2 PM: The Library seeks volunteers to help moving and setting up 25,000 books, facilities for the bake sale and food service. Washington County Band Concert, Pawlet Library, Tuesday, July 29, 7 PM: Note new date for this concert, which was rained out in June. The Pawlet Library welcomes the band back for this free concert after its last appearance in Pawlet in August 2012. Band director Geoffrey Gee is also the music director at Long Trail School, and the band’s program includes something for all: jazz, Broadway, marches, and a medley of popular tunes. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy an evening of free entertainment by the newly renovated green in the Pawlet Village Center. Band players include professional musicians, music teachers, students, some from Pawlet and neighboring communities. This event is sponsored by the Pawlet Library, The Community Health Centers of the Rutland Region, and NeighborWorks of Western Vermont. For more information, call 325-3123  or 325-3449.
