Pie Contest, Flea Market & Food Sale, Saturday, October 3, 9 AM – 3 PM, West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department firehouse: All are welcome to this charity fund-raiser event. Need a table for the Flea Market?  Call Edna Winot at 645-0174 or Ellie Park at 287-163. There will be a Big Food Sale with homemade rolls, pies, cookies, cakes and lots more. The kitchen will have light breakfast. Lunch will be hot dogs, hamburgers and corn chowder. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a regular raffle which is overseen by Edna Winot. Roast pork dinner Saturday, October 3, 5 PM, Pawlet Church: The menu includes: roast pork baked with topping, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, hot vegetables, cabbage, salad, applesauce, fruited Jello, rolls with butter, and hot and cold beverages. The cost is $12 for adults. Takeout orders can also be made on the day of the dinner by calling the church at 325-3022.

West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department Pancake Breakfast, Sunday, October 11, 7:30 to 11 AM, West Pawlet fire house: Pancake menu includes regular as well as chocolate chip, blueberry and cranberry. Sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, and home fries are also served, along with coffee, milk and orange juice. Prices are $8 for 12 years and up, $5 for 5-12 years and free to children under the age of 5.  A 501(c) (3) non-profit, all proceeds are for the benefit of the department’s equipment and training needs. Chicken Soup Cook-Off at the Pawlet Public Library, Sunday, October 18:  To compete in this fun, creative cook-off, stop by the library and sign up. Creamy, chunky, thick or thin, broth base, or cream, whichever you prefer – but chicken must be used! Cost to enter is $20; the library will provide the table, chairs, electricity, the outlet, cups, spoons and crackers. Space is limited, signup deadline is October 1.
