 Act 46 Merger Study Committee Meetings (Pawlet/Rupert/Wells), June 20, 6:30 PM, Rupert Firehouse: Act 46 is the new education reform law which will require school district mergers in the near future.

Mettawee School Generator Fundraiser, Duane Carleton, Saturday, June 25, 6:30 – 8:30 PM: Principal Brooke DeBonis, on behalf of the Mettawee Community School, invites the community-at-large to come together for great music performed by Duane Carleton at the Mettawee Community School! Carleton’s music is a rich blend of Rock, Country, Folk and Blues. All tickets are $15.00. Seating is General Admission. There will be a concession stand with food & drinks. June Fundraiser – Library seeks sneakers: The Pawlet Library is holding a sneaker fundraiser. We are collecting gently used sneakers, accepting all sizes. This is running for the month of June. Please clean out your closets and bring us your unwanted sneakers! Thank you. Adelle Seamans, 

Roast pork dinner Saturday, July 2, 5 PM, Pawlet Church: The menu includes: roast pork baked with topping, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, hot vegetables, cabbage, salad, applesauce, fruited Jello, rolls with butter, and hot and cold beverages, and a special dessert. The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children up to 12 and free for ages 5 and under. Takeout orders can also be made on the day of the dinner by calling the church at 325-3022.  

Tadmer Road in Pawlet to be closed to through traffic July 5 – July 15: The Highway Crew will be working on Tadmer Road during this time.   

West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary’s Annual Flea Market, Raffle and Bake Sale, Saturday, July 9, 9 AM – 3 PM: This family event will be held on Town-Wide Yard Sale Day in West Pawlet at the fire station located on Vermont Route 153 (Main Street). The firehouse kitchen will open at 9 AM for a light breakfast of donuts and coffee, and it will also be open for lunch. Many homemade items will be available at the food sale. Vendor tables in the flea market area are available for rent at $10 each. Reserve a table soon! The Big Raffle drawings will begin around 2 PM with more than 50 items to be raffled, including Telescope furniture, an Aerius home heater by Electrolux valued at $600, and cash! Raffle tickets are now on sale for $1 each and may be purchased through any Auxiliary member. The whole community is invited to have a lawn sale. 2016 Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department Auction, Thursday, July 28: The famous auction returns! This community tradition of exceptional bargains, great food, live auction entertainment, and fun with your neighbors offers something for everyone. We begin accepting donations on Wednesday, July 6th, so check those garages and attics. Your no-longer-needed items can become a major source of support for your fire department. Donating new items or gift certificates is also a great way to promote your business while supporting your local emergency responders. Items can be dropped off at the station on Tuesday evenings in July, or call 325-3222 and leave a message to arrange a pickup. The only way to know if there are elevated levels of contaminants in your private well water is to test. The Vermont Department of Health recommends that you test your private well water for: – Total coliform bacteria (test every year, Kit A) – Inorganic chemicals such as arsenic, nitrate, and manganese (test every five years, Kit C) – Gross alpha radiation (test every five years, Kit RA)
