New merger study committee forming: At a joint meeting of the Pawlet and Rupert school boards in January, it was unanimously decided to form a new merger study committee using Act 46 guidelines to study the feasibility of combining Pawlet, Rupert, and UD #47 (the Mettawee Elementary School) school boards into one unified board. The first step is to form a study committee with members from all towns involved, in this case Pawlet and Rupert. Ultimately the committee brings a decision back to the school boards, and the boards bring a proposal to the towns for a vote. Residents from Pawlet and Rupert interested in being appointed to the newly created Pawlet/Rupert/UD47 Merger Study Committee should send a letter of interest to Celeste Keel (email@example.com) by March 1, 2017.
