Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department 49th Annual Game Supper, Saturday, November 11, Pawlet Firehouse, 155 Vermont Route 133, Pawlet: Our famous Game Supper is here! Service begins at 5 PM and continues until the food is gone. The menu includes bear roast, venison roast, venison stew, moose meatballs, venison meatloaf, chicken and biscuits, and veggie salads – with homemade pie for dessert. Special Meeting to Vote, Tuesday, November 21, 10 AM to 7 PM, Pawlet Town Hall: The voters of the Pawlet Town School District will vote on two articles. The first article is whether to form the Mettawee School District, and the second article to elect an initial board of school directors for the Mettawee School District, if its formation is approved by the voters. Six directors will be elected, four from Pawlet and two from Rupert. Pawlet Haystack Hustler Seniors Thanksgiving Lunch, Tuesday, November 21, 12 PM, Mettawee Community School, Route 153, West Pawlet: This is the Mettawee Community School’s very special annual Thanksgiving luncheon where the seniors share this meal with students. Pawlet Cemeteries to Close for Winter: The Mettawee Valley and Northeast Cemeteries in Pawlet will be closed as of December 1, 2017. The cemetery grounds will not be snowplowed. Lot holders are encouraged to remove debris from their respective lots. No burials or cremains will be permitted without the approval of the Superintendent at any time. Please, no plastic holiday decorations. The Cemetery Association is striving to keep the grounds maintained as attractively as possible with very limited funds. For information call Myron (Mike) Waite, Superintendent at 802-325-3052.

Are You Registered to Vote? Pawlet voters have a very important vote coming up on November 21 on whether to merge our three school districts (Rupert, Pawlet, and U.D. #47) into one school district. Polls will be open in Pawlet and Rupert from 10 AM – 7 PM. There are 3 ways you can register to vote:

  1. Go to your town office (see hours below) and fill out a voter registration form. Voter registration forms are also available at the front desk at school.
  2. Register online at go to “Register to vote”.
  3. Register to vote on any day during the town clerk’s open hours up to and including Election Day, which is Tuesday Nov. 21.

If, for any reason, you are not available to vote on Nov. 21st, be sure to contact your town clerk to request an absentee ballot. Fill out and return absentee ballot following the instructions given by the town clerk. If you can’t make it to the polls on the 21st, you may go to your town office anytime during open hours and early vote, so you won’t have to worry about getting to the polls to vote on election day.

Holiday Bazaar, Saturday, December 2, 9 AM – 3 PM, West Pawlet Fire House, 2806 VT Rte. 153 (Main Street), West Pawlet: Sponsored by the West Pawlet Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary, this seasonal festival includes craft and flea market items, a food sale, raffle and lunch. Lunch is served starting at 11 AM – hamburgers, hot dogs, corn chowder, sandwiches, beverages and more. WPVFD Pancake Breakfast, Sunday, December 10, 7:30 – 11 AM, West Pawlet Firehouse: This fundraiser event is sponsored by the West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department. The firehouse, located at 2806 Vermont Route 153 (Main Street) in West Pawlet, is a handicap accessible site; all are welcome. The menu many kinds of pancakes – regular, chocolate chip, blueberry – maple syrup and waffles, West Pawlet’s world-famous home fries, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. We also serve coffee, tea, milk and orange juice. Prices are $8 for seniors 65 years of age and up, $10 for 12 to 65 years of age, $5 for 5-12 years of age and free to children under 5. The department members extend a sincere thank you to the many patrons of our pancake breakfast events, which are held monthly September through April.
