On November 5, Pawlet kids cast their (unofficial) vote for president and for their favorite book genre. The tallied results can be viewed HERE. 

Pawlet Public Library Storytime for December
Storytime with Gretchen starts at 11 a.m. on December 6, 14 and 20th. Details about the storytime subjects and future dates can be found HERE. 

The Pawlet Community Food Shelf for December
The Pawlet Community Food Pantry, housed in the community room of the Pawlet Community Church, will have a different schedule for the month of December. It will be open as usual on the 2nd Thursday, December 12th, from 3:30 to 5:30 and the 3rd Thursday,December 19th, from 3:30 to 5:30.  Anyone who needs food help is welcome to come and pick out the items they might need.  Likewise, if someone is unable to get to the church to pick up food, we may be able to deliver needed items. To request such help , please call the church (802-325-3022) between 3:30 and 4:30 on Food Pantry days  and arrangements will be made. For emergency food assistance, call the Town Office (802-325-3309). 

Health Screenings
Did you know that several health screening guidelines have changed recently?  

Screenings allow your primary care provider to find and diagnose serious health conditions that when caught early can be easier to treat. Talk to your provider about what screening you may be due for. To learn more click HERE.

Town of Pawlet now accepts online payments for property tax and waste water user fees
The Town of Pawlet is happy to announce that we are now able to accept credit card and Electronic Checks for Property Tax and Waste Water User Fee Payments. Click HERE to get started with a payment or call Julie at 802-325-3309 ext. 2.

Zoning Information
A permit is required for storage boxes and shipping containers. They are considered structures and subject to the same Zoning By-Laws as a building. If you have a storage box/shipping container on your property you must apply for a permit. An exemption is allowed if being used as temporary storage for less than one year. Questions? The Pawlet Selectboard adopted a Short Term Rental Ordinance (STR) on May 30, 2024.  It requires all properties that are being used as STR to register with the Town of Pawlet.

The owner is responsible for completing “The Town of Pawlet Short Term Registration Form” and payment of a $65 one time fee by January 1, 2025

Did you know?
The Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a milder, dryer winter for our region. Mid-December and late February are predicted to be the coldest periods. Early December, mid-February and early March are predicted to be the snowiest times. Let’s see how the Almanac does!

— December 3,  starting at 5:30 p.m. — Pawlet Public Library Monthly Board Meeting
The Library Board generally meets the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are open to the public; please contact the library for more information on how to join the meeting at 325-3123.

— December 10, 7:00 p.m. — Pawlet Select Board Meeting
The agenda for the next meeting will be available HERE. The Board meets every other Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Meetings are held according to the rules of procedure established by the Vermont League of Cities and Towns.

 — December 12, 6:30 p.m. — BRSU Regular  Board meeting
Held in Sunderland. The agenda and other information is available HERE.
