Death Cafe
Join us June 27th from 4 to 6 pm for an open, respectful, and thoughtful conversation about death and dying – topics we often shy away from but deeply connect us all.
At a Death Cafe, there’s no agenda, no judgement, and no intention of leading anyone to conclusions. Just tea, cake, and meaningful conversation in a warm, welcoming space.
Come as you are. Bring your thoughts, your questions, your curiosity.
Let’s talk about death so we can live more fully! More information available HERE.
Note: It is worth mentioning that Death Cafe is not a bereavement support or grief counseling setting. Death Cafe doesn’t work for folks who, for whatever reason, aren’t able to discuss death comfortably and openly. There are many other resources better set up for this. Thank you.
Fraud Watch Network Presents: Weapons of Fraud
An overview of leading scams, techniques of con artists, and discussion of the steps to take to avoid victimization. Presented by AARP. July 19, 1 pm.
Lisa May’s Chair Yoga at the Pawlet Public Library
Tuesdays at 11:45. $10 per class payable by cash or check.
The Pawlet Community Food Cupboard
The Pawlet Community Food Cupboard continues to grow and serve our neighbors in need, twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 3:30-5:30 pm. We are located in the community room of the Pawlet Community Church and are open and welcoming to all, including those from neighboring communities.
Those in need of assistance with food will find fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as dairy, proteins, grains and a wide variety of non-perishable items. The atmosphere is warm and nonjudgemental.
We are also in the process of partnering with Rutland County Health Partners, who will be bringing their Mobile Health Clinic to our site on the second Thursday of each month, hopefully starting June 12th. More information will be forthcoming soon.
If you are interested in volunteering or simply learning more about the Food Cupboard or the Mobile Clinic, feel free to stop during our distribution times and meet our team.
Community Health June news
Do You Know Where to Go for Medical Care?
Summer is here and you’ll want to be outside enjoying the season. It’s important that you, your friends, parents, grandparents and care givers know where to go when someone is sick or injured.
Unless it’s a life-threatening emergency, contact your primary care provider first.
- Community Health Primary Care https://www.chcrr.org is for illness, wellness visits, monitoring chronic health conditions and following up from hospital visits. For information, call Community Health’s Patient Access Center 802-779-9169.
- Community Health Express Care (https://www.chcrr.org/services/#express-care) offers primary care for minor injuries or illnesses after hours, on weekends, or when your primary care provider is unavailable. Express Care Castleton and Rutland are open 8am-8pm daily, including the weekends.
- Emergency Department is the best place to go when illnesses or injuries are more severe or life threatening. Call 911 for critical situations.
Resources for Mental Health Crisis

Diabetes Support Group Meets 2nd Wednesday in June
Join us the second Wednesday of every month for the Diabetes Support Group.
- 1-2pm in Rutland at the Rutland Diabetes & Endocrinology Center
- 5-6pm in Castleton at Castleton Community Health
Community Health and Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes & Endocrinology Center have joined together to organize this monthly program in two different locations at two different times.
It’s a no-judgement, no-lecture meeting, driven by you. It’s a place to share your challenges and successes and questions about medication management, continuous glucose monitoring, the new GLP1 drugs, meal planning and exercise options.
Contact our diabetes educators or your Community Health primary care provider or call 802-779-9169 for more information.

Did you know?
Some high temperatures are predicted for this week, but not to the level that Vermonters experienced in 1916. That year, temperatures reached a scorching 104 in Woodstock in July and matched that high in August in Middlebury. This week, Pawlet’s high is forecasted to top out at 93. Stay hydrated and take breaks as needed if you’re out in the sun.
