Town of Pawlet Protocol for Opening to Public By Appointment Only, Effective May 19: 
* You must call ahead and make an appointment prior to coming to the town hall.  You will be permitted to conduct research only in the amount of time that you have reserved.
* You may not come to the Town Hall if you have been exposed to or are showing symptoms of any form of illness; including but not limited to coughing or sneezing, or if you have recently traveled into the area from out of town and have not completed the required 14-day quarantine.
* You must wear a mask for the entire time of your visit.  If you are not wearing a mask you will not be permitted to enter the building.
* You must sanitize your hands upon entering the building.
* Be prepared to have your temperature taken with a no contact reader.
* Bring the supplies you will need to conduct your business (i.e., writing/marking utensils, paper, stapler, paper clips, tape, folders, envelopes).
* We do have wi-fi so you will be able to use your own phone for wi-fi calling.
* You will remain in the contained/designated area of the building.
* Please exercise patience and respect during your visit to the town hall.
* Genealogy research is suspended at this time.
* A drop box is provided outside the door for payments, etc.

Pawlet Library Curbside Service: We are offering curbside pickup and Inter-library Loan services. For information on our curbside protocol, please visit our website at www.pawletpubliclibrary.wordpress.com. Curbside pickup hours will be two days per week: Wednesday, 1 – 5 PM and Saturday, 11 AM – 1 PM. All staff will return to the library and will be available by phone (802-325-3123) or by e-mail (pawletpub@gmail.com) during regular library hours. Only staff members will be allowed inside the building. All public programs and community use of the library building are still suspended until further notice. Plans for future phases of reopening the library will be communicated on our website and Facebook page and through other available channels. Pawlet Public Library Cancels 53rd Annual Book Sale: The Pawlet Public Library Board of Trustees recently voted to cancel the Library’s 53 rd Annual Book Sale, scheduled the last weekend in July, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The book sale sorting center has suspended acceptance of book donations until further notice. The Book Sale will be back in 2021!

Pawlet Public Library Offers Summer Camp: The Library announces a free 5-day summer camp for children grades 1-6, August 10-14, 9:00 AM – Noon. “Imagine: Five Days of Fantasy and Wonder” features stories and activities each day, led by Catherine Hunter, Library literacy specialist. Space is very limited and advanced registrations are required. The camp is planned to occur indoors and outdoors at the Pawlet Public Library. Children are asked to wear a mask and bring their own snack. If the Library determines in August that in-person programming with limited capacity is not advisable due to COVID-19, campers can stop by the Library’s curbside pickup for “take and make” activities each camp day. The summer camp is co-sponsored by Stewart’s Holiday Match, the Children’s Literacy Foundation, and Vermont Department of Libraries. Advanced registration is required due to limited capacity. Pawlet Fire Department Cancels 2020 Auction: The Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department regrets to announce we have cancelled our 2020 auction. This was not a decision we made lightly, as the auction is both a beloved community tradition and an important fundraiser for our agency. However, we must put the health and safety of our community first. The auction will be back in 2021, better than ever, and we look forward to seeing you then. A Helping Hand in Pawlet: Helping Hands continues to provide free meals, 3 times per week for those in need in our community and surrounding towns. With the impetus of McChesney Real Estate and Family to start this much needed initiative, we are able to continue thanks to support from individual donations, a SPARK grant and contributions from an anonymous fund holder with The Vermont Community Foundation. The Barn Restaurant prepares meals on Fridays and Sundays, and Mach’s Market prepares meals on Wednesdays. Please look for the weekly menu via Facebook pages of McChesney Real Estate & Mach’s Market, and Front Porch Forum, posted every Monday. Call the Pawlet Community Church to sign up for meals at (802) 325-3022. Leave your name and phone number before noon on Tuesdays for Wednesday meals, Thursday for Friday meals and Saturday for Sunday meals. Let us know if you’d like to be on our permanent list for ongoing meals throughout the week. We are here to help. Meal pick-up on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday in Pawlet Community Church parking lot between 5-5:30. Volunteers will deliver meals to your car. Naga Bakehouse Community Bake Pizza Night Series, Wednesday, July 1: Pizza To Go From Naga Bakehouse – follow this link: Pizza Order Form for this week’s offerings and to pre-order your pizza to go for pickup on Wednesday, July 1. You’ll be directed to sign up for a pick-up time in 15-minute intervals. Don’t forget to add a side of garlic knots or brown sugar cinnamon knots. Orders are open until Tuesday, June 30 at noon. On Wednesday, please arrive at Naga Bakehouse (Sundog Lane, Middletown Springs) as close to your 15-minute time slot as possible. We’ll have a tent set up at the bottom of the road and we’ll greet you there, pizza in (gloved) hand. We started our local baking in an effort to be here for our community; if you can’t afford a pie let us know, we’ll provide one, no questions asked!  Just choose the “free of charge, please” payment option when you order.  Weekly Wednesday Pizza Nights at Naga Bakehouse will continue for the entire month of July. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Postponed: Due to Covid-19, the Rutland County Solid Waste Alliance Communities (SWAC), the towns of Benson, Chittenden, Fair Haven, Middletown Springs, Pawlet, Rutland Town, Shrewsbury, Sudbury, Tinmouth, and West Haven, have rescheduled the Saturday, May 16 household hazardous waste collection event.  The collection event had been scheduled for May 16. The newly scheduled date for this event is Saturday, October 3 from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM at the Rutland Town Transfer Station. Courier Service for Self-Isolating Seniors: Joe and Martha Pofit of Wells are running a Courier Service as part of a state-wide program to help home-bound seniors with groceries, prescriptions, clinic visits, errands. We are excited to do our little part to spare any suffering we can for those in self-isolation who are at-risk for infection.

SVCOA Offers Shopping Service for Older Vermonters: Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging has started a new grocery and supply shopping service to support older Vermonters in Bennington and Rutland counties during the COVID-19 issue. The shopping service, which is supported by vetted SVCOA volunteers, is available to anyone age 60 or over, as well as eligible younger disabled individuals.
